How did I get into this career?
Becoming a therapist was not a linear journey for me. As a freshman at the University of Wisconsin, I developed an early interest in psychology. However, like many college freshmen, I changed my focus multiple times before ultimately pursuing a rigorous program at the University of Wisconsin’s Business School. I graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and built a career in that field for nearly 15 years.
During this time, I became a parent and experienced many transformative life events that continued to pull me in new directions. My “aha” moment came in 2020 when I realized that most of my free time was spent learning about human behavior, child development, and the inner workings of the brain. It became clear to me that I wanted to become a therapist. I chose the field of social work as a way to deepen my understanding of who we are on both micro and macro levels. Today, as I work as a therapist, I often reflect on the intuition my 18-year-old self had in initially pursuing the mental health field. While I’m grateful for that early instinct, I also recognize that the experiences I’ve had along the way have shaped me into the therapist I am today.
What is my favorite thing about counseling?
What I love most about my work is showing up for my clients with unconditional positive regard. There are few places or people in our lives that allow us to be exactly as we are—no questions asked. I am honored to provide that space of acceptance for my clients and to use it as a foundation for growth and healing.
What do I like to do when I'm not at Atlanta Wellness Collective?
When I’m not at Atlanta Wellness Collective, I enjoy running, spending time outdoors, traveling, trying new recipes, and being with family. My partner and I stay busy managing a household of six—plus two dogs—so there is never a dull moment! I strive to find balance amid the busyness of life, and I help my clients do the same in their own lives.
What do I hope for my clients?
My clients will find that I bring empathy, compassion, and authenticity to the therapeutic relationship. Within this space, I hope to offer a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore what may be holding them back. My goal is for clients to feel seen, heard, and respected while gaining a sense of empowerment to embrace new tools, growth, and healing.
