Get to Know Jazlyn Bain

How did I get into this career?

I originally thought I wanted to be a marine biologist, but after one college chemistry class, I quickly realized that wasn’t the right path for me. Unsure of what to do next, I enrolled in an Introduction to Psychology class and became fascinated with the human experience. Learning more helped me make sense of my own experiences and led me to seek therapy, something that had once felt off-limits due to struggles with perfectionism. Over time, I realized I wanted to help others in the same way that psychology and therapy had helped me. A conversation with a research professor helped me see clinical social work as the path to achieve that goal. It felt like a natural fit because the core social work values—social justice, integrity, competence, and respect for others—resonated with how I already live and approach the world.

What is my favorite thing about therapy?

My favorite part of being a therapist is witnessing the “aha” moments and meaningful shifts that unfold in my client’s lives. Clients often begin therapy in one place, and over time, I get to see growth and change take shape. Being invited into that process is something I feel deeply grateful for, and I’m honored to walk alongside people during these moments in their lives.

What do I like to do when I’m not at Atlanta Wellness Collective?

I’m almost always surrounded by people who fill my cup. Extraverted at heart, I feel most refueled when I’m spending time with my partner, daughter, family, and friends. I also really love to cook and eat—especially trying new restaurants when my budget can keep up with my appetite. Lately, I’ve fallen headfirst into romantasy and enjoy escaping into those worlds whenever I can.

What do I hope for my clients?

My hope for clients is that this journey begins with feeling seen and heard, and grows into a sense of safety and support. From there, our work focuses on helping you find your voice and accept yourself as you are. I aim to be a steady counterpart in your process, offering both support and honest feedback as you move toward a life that feels meaningful and aligned.
