Get to Know Emilie Peterson
How did I get into this career?
My path into counseling really began through relationships. For several years, I served as a volunteer student leader at my church, walking alongside teenage girls as they navigated the ups and downs of adolescence. I loved being part of their growth—supporting them through transitions, questions, and challenges during such a formative season of life.
I also spent time working as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) with children on the autism spectrum. That experience deepened my appreciation for the therapeutic process and confirmed my desire to pursue a career where I could focus more on cognitive and talk-based therapy. Along the way, I felt a strong pull in my faith—trusting God to lead me into this field and shape the path ahead.
What is my favorite thing about counseling?
One of my favorite parts of counseling is creating a space where people can finally exhale. A place where you can feel seen, known, and accepted without pressure. I value being able to sit with someone in both the hard and meaningful moments of their story and support them as they experience real, lasting growth.
What do I like to do when I’m not at Atlanta Wellness Collective?
Outside of work, I enjoy watercolor painting, snowboarding, and filming luxury weddings. I also love spending quality time with my husband and friends—those moments of connection and joy are incredibly important to me.
What do I hope for my clients?
I hope my clients come to experience a sense of meaning and hope in their lives, even in the midst of challenges. I want to help them develop practical ways to navigate what they’re facing while also growing into the life they want to build. My goal is for each person to leave feeling more grounded, more empowered, and more confident in who they are becoming.
