Get to Know Colin Morris

How did I get into this career?

I remember telling my parents in middle school that I wanted to be a counselor when I grew up.
In the 1990s, I earned my psychology degree, got married, and moved overseas as an Army spouse. I had three kids in five years, and life took a different direction for a while.

Fast forward 25 years—now with my kids out in the world—I felt that familiar pull back toward counseling. Something about midlife gave me the clarity and courage to finally do the thing I had dreamed about all those years ago: listening to people, offering warmth, and walking with them through hard things.

What is my favorite thing about counseling?

Connection. Even when the topics are heavy, something powerful happens when we speak honestly and are truly heard. We all carry things that feel too heavy to name. We need a place where we can be our full selves and still be accepted. For me, slowing down to find that safe, grounded place together is the best part of this work.

What do I like to do when I'm not at Atlanta Wellness Collective?

In my free time, I love being with my adult kids and my granddaughter. I’m always up for trying a new restaurant or traveling to a new place. I’d choose the mountains over the beach any day—I know, that’s controversial! Last year, I read about 100 novels for fun, and I enjoy watching British competition shows.

What do I hope for my clients?

I hope my clients begin to feel a shift, even a quiet one. Real change unfolds slowly, but even small shifts can open up new possibilities. Maybe something feels just a little lighter, or a relationship feels a little less strained.
Whatever the shift is, it matters.
Just being here—visiting this website or reading this blog post—is a sign of movement.
That takes courage. I see that in you already. Let’s figure out the next steps together.
