Ian Bauer works with men, teens, adults, and couples who feel stuck in patterns they can’t seem to break, whether that shows up as emotional shutdown, pressure to perform, relationship conflict, or a sense that something isn’t working. He is especially passionate about supporting men who want to better understand themselves, strengthen their relationships, and learn how to engage their emotions without losing their sense of identity or control.
Ian creates a grounded, honest, and relational space where clients can show up without pressure to have everything figured out. His approach is both supportive and direct—helping clients feel seen while also gently challenging the patterns that keep them stuck. He believes that many of the struggles people face today are shaped by earlier experiences that continue to influence how they think, feel, and relate. In counseling, Ian helps clients slow down, make sense of these patterns, and move toward greater clarity, freedom, and connection.
His clinical interests include trauma, relational disconnection, identity development, life transitions, and emotional awareness. As a former collegiate athlete, Ian also works with individuals navigating high-performance environments—helping them process internal pressure, expectations, and the identity shifts that often come with achievement-driven spaces. He also enjoys working with couples who want to move out of cycles of conflict and build more intentional, secure, and connected relationships.
Ian’s approach is primarily psychodynamic and attachment-based, helping clients understand how early relationships shape present-day functioning. He integrates person-centered principles to foster a strong therapeutic relationship and uses motivational interviewing to support growth, ownership, and meaningful change. While he incorporates cognitive and behavioral tools when helpful, his work focuses on deeper emotional and relational healing that leads to lasting transformation.
For clients who desire it, Ian thoughtfully integrates faith and spirituality into the counseling process in a way that is collaborative, respectful, and aligned with each client’s values. He believes that faith can be a powerful part of healing, identity, and restoration when approached with authenticity and care. He is receiving a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Richmont Graduate University in Atlanta and is a pre-licensed counselor under direction and supervision.
A note from Ian —
Many people come to counseling feeling frustrated that they keep running into the same patterns—in their relationships, emotions, or decisions—even when they genuinely want things to change. That doesn’t mean something is wrong with you. More often, it means there’s something underneath that hasn’t been fully understood yet.
You don’t need to have the right words or a clear plan to begin. My role is to help you make sense of what’s going on and support you in building a life that feels more grounded, connected, and honest.
