So often, parents, teens and young adults sit across in the intake not knowing where to start. How can I consolidate something that feels so precious to me in a 50 minute intake? Where do I begin for my child and how do I connect the dots? I believe humans are designed to be intimately connected with others in loving and secure relationships. When there is a misalignment in any relationship dynamic, behavioral issues can be the current lifeline for communication. As I have sat with many families, parents, teens or young adults over the years, I believe education intertwined with sharing one's story leads to confidence, resiliency, and empowerment. For younger clients under 10 years old, parents no longer have to feel loss operating in a system that no longer serves you. A parent-led approach is possible to provide concrete tools and education to bring into the household. How powerful could it be for you to go into your house as a leader, role model and confident parent? (I am envisioning a sturdy parent navigating the rough and everchanging waves of parenthood). Counseling provides that safe and non judgemental environment to heal and transform. Alexandra works with children (ages 5+), teens, adults, and families to help create a safe and empathetic environment where you will feel encouraged to heal, learn, and grow. Specifically, Alexandra has handcrafted a framework for counseling that allows family systems to grow before child ever step foot into the counseling room.

From a neurodiversity affirming perspective, Alexandra helps individuals feel confident in their identity and ability to navigate the world. Alexandra welcomes young adults who are wanting to thrive independently and may not know what that first step looks like. From a trauma-informed lens, Alexandra works alongside the individual to get back to owning their own narrative. Alexandra is right alongside the child as they explore and share their perspective of the world. Through this sense of autonomy and confidence, children and teens can thrive.

In addition to working with individuals, Alexandra cares deeply about healthy family systems and is passionate about helping your family grow in genuine connection, learn effective communication styles and handle the difficulties of life. With authenticity, Alexandra strives to help rebuild meaningful connections within families. The counseling relationship can provide this safe support.

Alexandra enjoys being active by hiking with her husband and baby boy, exploring the new ice cream spot, and running. You can often find her outside with a cup of coffee and a book (or listening to a podcast currently in early motherhood). Her favorite hobbies include hiking, trying a new recipe and listening to live music.

Alexandra received her Masters in Science in Clinical Mental Counseling with a focus in Addictions Counseling at the University of North Georgia and her Bachelors in Psychology with a minor in Applied Statistics. Alexandra is trained in EMDR, a specific modality of counseling for trauma, and AutPlay, a specific modality of counseling for neurodivergent children and teens. She is board certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) and is licensed as an Associate Professional Counselor under direction and supervision. Alexandra is an adjunct professor at the University of North Georgia as well and teaches psychology to young adults.

A note from Alexandra —
